If you’re thinking about staying in a Swedish hostel, we’re pretty sure this next accommodation will take your fancy. Unless, of course, the last place you want to stay in after a long flight is another aeroplane! That’s because the Jumbo Hostel is actually a decommissioned 747 jumbo jet!

Built in 1976, the plane’s former airline went bankrupt in 2002. But in 2008 it was rescued, renamed Liv (after the owner’s daughter) and opened as a 25-room hostel. It has even had its cockpit converted into a luxury suite with a panoramic view of the Arlanda airport.

If this hotel doesn’t sweep you off your feet, we don’t know what will!

Day one of the Weird & Wonderful Hotels shoot, and our team from Chief Productions are already joining the jet-set! Sweden’s Jumbo Hostel offers guests the chance to stay in a converted Boeing 747, and as you can see, the team have made themselves more than comfortable in the Pilot’s Suite.

Love planes?  A fan of TV’s ‘Lost’?  If you answered “yes” to both questions, then pack your bags and get yourself over to the Hotel Costa Verde’s two-bedroom, Boeing 727, fuselage suite!

Carefully placed on a 50-foot pedestal, the plane and its surrounding decking is the perfect holiday accommodation. Add to this the luxurious beaches and jungles of Manuel Antonio, and you really do have it all!

Another fascinating site at New Zealand’s Woodlyn Park is its specially converted plane, that’s right an actual plane!

This 1950’s Bristol Freighter Plane was one of the last allied planes out of Vietnam and is now a two-unit motel. Guests can choose either the plane’s tail section or as a special treat, you can sleep in the plane’s cockpit.

Don’t be worried if you’ve got a fear of flying, this plane is safely stuck to the ground.
