Right sonny, you’re nicked! It’s prison for you, make no mistake! Although it‘s a very unusual prison: you come here of your own free will.
Welcome to the Karosta Prison. Now a hotel and museum, but formerly a military prison, Karosta is situated in the Latvian city of Liepāja.
A stay at this hotel is truly back to basics! You’ll get no preferential treatment here, I’m afraid. It’s a prisoner’s bench, loo, cold water only and two to a cell!
However, what you might get is the occasional visitor – from the other side! Bumps in the night are a common occurrence here and there have even been sightings from beyond the grave!
An insight into life as an inmate can be gleaned from the graffiti on the walls – truly horrifying! So, would you be game to stay in the Karosta Prison?
